Beginning Reading: This class is perfect for our little ones still learning to read. From solidifying their knowledge of each letter and identifying it when it's used to starting to piece it together with other letters and memorizing short sight words, this is a fun class with a multitude of opportunities. There is fun music, sometimes snacks, colors and multiple learning techniques used. The teacher is also prepared to shape the class around the students (once she can ascertain their current level).

Animals: Each week there will be visual aids and activities teaching the children about different animals. This will touch on animals in different environments. They will learn about birds in the sky, sea creatures, plains animals and more. Each class will end in a written activity surrounding the animal about which they learned that day.

Biology:  For all of you students who want to get your hands dirty, this is for you. Parents...want your student to learn the beauty and hands-on information only acquired by time in the lab? Then this is your lucky day. This biology class will be a lab class. During the 12 week semester we will get to dissect several different creatures. Hour 2 Class Descriptions

Learning Through Music: For our little ones 6 and under...Let's learn by singing songs! Songs help us memorize and understand things better. As adults we can all attest to the many memories we have connected to tunes. For our kids -The A says "ah" the A says "ah," every letter makes a sound. The A says "ah"- just an example of the many fun songs we will sing as we sharpen our bright young minds.

Cooking Around the World: We will be comparing what families eat in 12 different countries across the globe with what we eat here in America. We will also discover fun facts about each country and locate the country on a globe. We will make and try foreign dishes from each country while listening to local music from that country. We will practice a few words or phrases in the native tongue as well. The goal is to have a somewhat immersive experience while discovering new countries and their way of life.

Fee: $5 (plus ingredient donations)

Embroidery: In this class we will be learning some of the many options when embroidering. From the individual stitches to choosing an overall plan, from practicing using hoops and the important details of proper thread and the right needle... we will explore a small corner of the big world of embroidery. Hopefully we can ignite a creative passion in some who have yet to discover this unique art form. Students will be able to pick their pattern from several choices once class starts in February.

Books of the Bible: Older students will use this time to memorize the books of the Old and New Testament, discuss their authors (if we know for sure), when they were written and their target audience. We will also briefly discuss how books got included in the Cannon, in what order they were actually written, and if we find time we will touch on other writings that were considered but eventually excluded from either Testament. Join us as we try to get a better grasp on the inerrant Word of God!

Hour 3 Class Descriptions

Math, Games, and Movement: Let's get moving with some math! We will mainly be reading through Life of Fred with some other supplements in order to sharpen our math skills. Physical games and mental games will be used to help make it more fun! I will ascertain the exact level of the students the first day of class. This will help me determined at which level to begin. This can be an inclusive class no matter where they are in math.

Fee: $3

Greek Mythology: Students will study 8 Greek myths. We will be using them as literature studies. Once the myth has been read and discussed we will do art and writing projects in response. We will also delve into why Christianity is superior to the Greek religion. This will be a great way to broaden your knowledge of literature and history while also participating in lively discussion.

Fee: $5

Spanish 2: This is a continuation of the Spanish class from the last 2 years. We will continue increasing our vocabulary, practice pronunciation, learn to conjugate verbs in even more ways, and work through the nuances of this beautiful language and culture. This class has homework to be done daily and students must have enough motivation to keep up.
